Historical society seeks board members

The Simi Valley Historical Society’s executive board is looking to grow. Formed in 1964 as a nonprofit organization, volunteer board members provide leadership to meet the goals of the society in the preservation of local history.

Headquartered at Strathearn Historical Park and Museum, the purpose of the Historical Society is to acquire, preserve, maintain, identify and mark historic buildings, sites and landmarks; collect artifacts of historical significance; to provide and maintain a sanctuary for such artifacts; to provide the public a reservoir of historical information and to encourage and continue research in the history of the area. Applicants need to bring a variety of personal skills and experience that will augment growth and further the development of the organization by offering leadership and teamwork.

I urge interested candidates trequest an application form bcontacting the visitor center at Strathearn Park, 137 Strathearn Place, or call (805) 526-6453. Email requests can be made asimimuseum@sbcglobal.net. Georgia Trumble Simi Valley Trumble is president of the Simi Valley Historical Society.
