Family of boy killed in accident grateful for letter
We were so touched by the outpouring of emotion in Marlene Walsh’s letter (Simi Valley Acorn , July 10) regarding my 12½yearold son, Travis Hansen.
What a shocker to have my wife yell from the other room, “Somebody has written about Travis!”
My wife, Travis’ stepmother, and I read her letter, eyes welling with tears the whole time.
It has been 22 months since Travis was killed.
He is fading from many people’s memories, and that is to be expected, but, of course, not from mine and not from his family’s.
Travis’ memory burns in my head and heart every day. I could read a letter like Marlene’s every week.
It hurts, but also feels good, that my son has affected a perfect stranger so positively.
Thank you, Marlene Walsh, from the bottom of our hearts, for keeping Travis’ memory alive.
It’s all we have now, and it’s never too late. Steve and Sandy Hansen and family Simi Valley
