Animal rescue program launched
NEW HOME—Albert Einstein is a dachshund placed through the new Animal Rescue Program sponsored by Cabrillo Music Theatre. Carole W. Nussbaum, president and CEO of the Thousand Oaksbased Cabrillo Music Theatre, recently announced the launch of Cabrillo's animal rescue program in conjunction with the theater's upcoming production of Andrew Lloyd Webber's "Cats."
The Animal Rescue Program will help abused, homeless, and abandoned dogs and cats. Cabrillo will give the profits from the sale of "Cats" merchandise to five Southern California animal rescue missions: Cat Connection, Karma Rescue, LIFE Animal Rescue, Southern California Dachshund Rescue and Simi Valley-based BARK.
In addition, Cabrillo will give two complimentary orchestra tickets to an upcoming show in its 2009-2010 season to all patrons adopting a homeless animal from one of the five animal rescue missions listed above through the final performance of "Cats" on Aug. 2.
Nussbaum opened the program by adopting 5-year-old Albert Einstein, an abandoned dachshund, from Southern California Dachshund Rescue. The dog was sick when he was rescued from a shelter, but has since been nursed back to health.
