Tiny Tot Preschool and Kindergarten, a school for children ages 18 months to 6 years, and the American Red Cross will host its first blood drive from 12:30 to 6:30 p.m. Tues., July 21 at the school, 1680 Patricia Ave., Simi Valley.

According to the American Red Cross, more than 38,000 blood donations are needed every day, with type O the most requested blood type since this is the "universal blood type" that can be safely transfused to any patient. The American Red Cross strives to recruit and retain type O donors.

The school is privately owned and managed by Nare Corporation, a provider of childcare in Simi Valley since 1965.
