Two local pianists to perform with T.O. Philharmonic
The Thousand Oaks Philharmonic will perform the OPUS 25 concerts at 7:30 p.m. Fri., July 31 at the Camarillo United Methodist Church, 291 Anacapa Drive, and 2:30 p.m. Sun., Aug. 2 at the Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Plaza Scherr Forum Theatre, 2100 Thousand Oaks Blvd.
The Aug. 2 concert will be followed by a dinner fundraiser at Fiamme Restaurant & Bar at 3731 E. Thousand Oaks Blvd., in the Thousand Oaks Paseo Market Place.
The concerts will feature seven young musicians age 16 and older from Ventura County performing piano concertos led by conductor Richard Rintoul and accompanied by the orchestra. Following are the student artists, their home town and the piece they will be playing.
Sydni Adler from Agoura Hills, Liszt Piano Concerto No. 1; Hanlu Cao from Westlake Village, Grieg Piano Concerto Third Movement; Tommy Do from Simi Valley, Grieg Piano Concerto First Movement; Joseph Marquez from Simi Valley, Rachmaninoff Piano Concerto No. 2; Yasha Yakhnis from Newbury Park, Beethoven Piano Concerto No. 5; Roseann Zhong from Thousand Oaks, Chopin Piano Concerto No. 2; Brent Bain from Moorpark, Shostakovich Concerto No. 2. Concert tickets are $25 for general admission, $15 for seniors ages 60 and up, and $10 for students. Remaining tickets, if any, will be on sale in the lobby beginning at 1:30 p.m. on concert day.
The Aug. 2 post-concert, three-course gourmet dinner with wine is $50 per person, all inclusive. Dinner reservations are required by calling Cynthia Rivetti at (805) 878-6551 or e-mailing cyn459@aol.com.
