New hours for self-help centers
      Scheduling changes have been put into effect for each of the Ventura County Superior Court's selfhelp centers, which provide free informational assistance for litigants who represent themselves. All self-help centers will close at 4 p.m. in response to the state budget crisis.

Tax roll declines
      Ventura County Assessor Dan Goodwin announced the assessment roll for 20092010 decreased by 2.34 percent this year. The assessment roll provides the basis for computing most of county government's generalpurpose tax revenue.

Race for sheriff's office begins

Senator hands out sustainability awards
      State Sen. Fran Pavley (DAgoura Hills) presented Sustainability awards in May and June to organizations that have given top priority to the environment. In May Pavley recognized Point Dume Marine Science School in Malibu; Earth Island, a solarpowered facility for vegetarian products; and the Calabasas Civic Center.
