Arrests made in two separate burglary cases

•Three Simi Valley residents have been arrested in connection with a series of recent vehicle burglaries in the city.

Benjamin Villasenor, 21, of Simi Valley was arrested in May. Carlos Perez, 21, and Carlos Palmeri, 18, both of Simi Valley, and Marcos Flores, 24, of North Hollywood were arrested June 16.

According to police, the suspects would break into unoccupied vehicles at night by smashing a window. They would then steal valuables that had been left inside.

Police believe the suspects were involved in several burglaries throughout Simi Valley that resulted in the loss of more than $10,000.

The police department reminds residents not to leave items of value in unattended vehicles.

•Jose Guardado, 26, of Simi Valley, was arrested June 26 on charges of robbing Garcia's Bakery, 1603 Los Angeles Ave., Simi Valley.

A male Hispanic dressed in dark clothing and armed with a handgun entered Garcia's Bakery at about 7:31 p.m. April 29.

He demanded money from the clerk. The robber took the money and ran out of the store, north toward the railroad tracks. Police searched the area but did not find the man.

Detective Unit personnel created a composite drawing of the thief based on a description given by a witness to the crime. A Simi Valley officer saw the drawing and recognized the subject from earlier contacts. The identification led to Guardado's arrest.

He was taken into custody without incident and booked in the Ventura County Jail.
