City accepting applications for Neighborhood Council vacancies

The city of Simi Valley is accepting applications for Neighborhood Council executive board members. Vacancies exist on each of the four neighborhood boards for two-year terms from Nov. 1, 2009, to Oct. 31, 2011.

Applicants must be age 18 or older and residents of Simi Valley.

The Neighborhood Councils meet monthly to review development projects and issues of community concern within their boundaries.

The councils will advise the City Council and the planning commission of their recommendations.

The councils are also involved with community volunteer events such as the Arroyo Cleanup.

Application deadline is 5 p.m. Wed., Sept. 9.
