People shouldn't be forced to wear their seat belts
Federal ClickIt or Ticket enforcement is just another sneaky way to pick the pocket of the average working guy in order for local law enforcement to get their fair share of the federal pie.
Selfrespecting law enforcement officers ought to be ashamed. I applaud their commitment and courage keeping us safe from actual bad guys, but fining Grandma for driving to the corner grocery is reprehensible. Hiding out on bicycles to catch her is disgusting.
It is appalling to read the Acorn's Orwellian article, belittling reasons for not wearing seat belts. Reasons like "recent surgery" or it being "a personal choice."
Wake up, people. It is a personal choice. I have arthritis in my neck. Wearing a seat belt is a literal pain in the neck.
As for the mantra that "seat belts save lives," that is very debatable from the CHP's and the DoT's own statistics, just like helmet laws.
Cops are exempted because it is as much of a pain for them as it is for us. Kids on buses are exempted because it costs the government money instead of making them money. Safety has nothing to do with it. Don't be fooled. It is all about money and more control over us "sheeple."
Not wearing your seat belt neither harms nor endangers anybody. When is this profitable mothering from our cashhungry public servants going to be enough?
Why don't we reduce the maximum speed down to 25 mph everywhere? That would save lives. How about locking up your kitchen knives? Or outlawing swimming? Lots of injuries there.
Honestly, folks need to wake up. Read the preamble in our Constitution. We are the boss of government, not the other way around.
They are severely limited in that wonderful document by us, "We the People." It is human nature for legislatures to expand their control over others. We ought not to take it buckled up. However, feel free to do so if you wish. Ramsay Devereux Simi Valley
