Free classes for job seekers at local career center

The East County Job & Career Center at 980 Enchanted Way, Simi Valley, offers the following career shops in July.

Classes are free for job seekers but prior registration is required by calling (805) 955-2282.

•Computer Basics for Job Seekers, 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Tues., July 7. Become familiar with Windows desktop programs to enhance job skills.

•Power of VOS (Virtual OneStop), 9 a.m. to noon Tues., July 14. Learn about the Virtual OneStop website and how to use the tools in the system to build a resume and customize a job search to a specific location and occupation.

Must have basic computer skills.

•Resumes that Sell, 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Wed. and Thurs., July 15 and 16. Two-day workshop with handson assistance in completing a resume, cover and thank-you letters. Walk away with a portfolio that shows off professional skills and experience.

•Winning Interviews, 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Thurs., July 23. Supplies the tools to make a lasting first impression when interviewing.

•Power of VOS (Virtual OneStop), 9 a.m. to noon Tues., July 28.
