DETERMINED—Meghan Taylor of Simi Valley Girls Softball's 8-and-under Gold All-Stars unloads during the sixth annual Amanda McPherson All-Star Tournament, played at four Simi Valley sports complexes June 19-21. In all, 68 teams from the Greater Los Angeles area competed in an event named to honor a "little girl who helps us remember what is important in life." Taylor's team, and Simi Valley's 12-and-under Gold squad, claimed titles. Amanda McPherson's father, Phil, told players and coaches immediately after the final game: "It's not about who won or who lost. It's about being out on the fields, to always try your best, to have fun and to keep smiling." More ...
