IMPASSIONED DEBATE—Above, Republican Stephen Frank, political consultant and publisher of online newsletter "CA Political News & Views," speaks for Prop. 8 during a June 17 debate at the Simi Valley Library. More than 25 people showed up for "Prop. 8 Debate—Banning Gay Marriage," which was sponsored by the Simi Valley/Moorpark Democratic Club. Three panelists participated in the debate. Speaking against Prop. 8 were Andre Verdun, who holds a law degree and is a member of the Ventura County Stonewall Democrats and the Ventura County Democratic Central Committee, and Edie Brown, an activist in the LGBT & HIV/AIDS community since 1988.
