Simi fireworks show promises plenty of 'Siss! Boom! Bah!'

The Rotary Club of Simi Valley noontime club will host the 39th annual Fourth of July Festival and Fireworks Extravaganza at Rancho Santa Susana Park, 5005 Los Angeles Ave, Simi Valley.

The event is free to the public and is cosponsored by the city of Simi Valley and the Rancho Simi Recre ation and Park District.

This year the gates will open an hour earlier at 2 p.m

Live entertainment will begin at 2:15 p.m. The Platinum Groove is the head liner band and will perform a mix of disco, oldies, Motown and Top 40. Other scheduled entertainment includes local bands Conspiracy and Rock of Ages, Simi Valley Police Department's K-9 Unit and a dance performance.

The Children's Fun Zone will have inflatables, giant slide and a rock climbing wall.

Hot dogs, hamburgers, barbecue and pizza will be for sale. Beer, wine and other beverage stations will be available. A drink limit will be enforced for those of drinking age.

A large variety of craft booths will be on site.

Parking options will include the parking lot at the Metro/ Amtrak station and Simi Valley High School. Shuttle service will not be provided, so residents are advised to arrive early for choice parking spaces.

Proceeds from the event will benefit local charities.
