Simi Hills hosting golf event

Simi Hills Golf Course will play host to the Simi Valley Amateur Golf Championship on Saturday and Sunday, July 25-26.

It will be the 28th year that the tournament has been played at Simi Hills.

The 36-hole tournament will feature play in four flights, including the championship flight, which was won last year by Russell Boring of Agoura.

Boring was tied in regulation play with Kevin Coughlan of Carlsbad at 7-under-par, 135, before winning the fourth hole of sudden death via a birdie.

The $179 entry fee includes both rounds of golf, breakfast and lunch each day, prize funds for each flight and a free tee prize.

Entries are due Fri., July 17.
