      When Nanci Hanover brought her newly adopted son home to Simi Valley, she vowed to do whatever she could to assure he'd be the best person he could be. Now, years later, Eric Hanover is a teenager who loves camping and hiking, does well in school and is wrapping up his Eagle Scout project.

Pageant winner to speak out on SIDS
      Simi Valley resident and reigning Mrs. Ventura County International 2010 Sabrina Hayes will compete for the Mrs. California International Crown on Sept. 11 and 12 at the Downey Civic Center. Hayes was also named the spokesperson for the Josephine DeMello Foundation, a nonprofit organization based in Camarillo.

Serving in Uniform
      Air Force Airman Christopher T. Follett graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, and earned four credits toward an associate degree through the Community College of the Air Force. Follett is the son of Jon Follett of Simi Valley and a 2008 graduate of Royal High School.
