Oxnard salsa contest seeks spicy entries
      All types of homemade salsa are eligible for entry in the Great Oxnard Salsa Challenge 2009 at the 16th annual Oxnard Salsa Festival on Sun., July 26. Amateur salsa makers may compete in six categories: Best Red, Best Green, Best Fruit, Best Hot, Best Medium and Best Mild.

Locally Grown benefit concert to reconnect people with nature
      The Locally Grown benefit concert will take place Sat., June 20 in Libbey Bowl, Ojai. Doors open at 5 p.m. The concert celebrates community diversity and environmental stewardship. The event is sponsored by Food For Thought, which seeks to reconnect people to the natural cycles of the earth by eating seasonal, locally grown produce.
