Boo scares up scholarship
Geobio K. Boo of Royal High School has received second place at the national level in the Elks National Foundation's annual Most Valuable Student scholarship program. The Simi Valley Elks Lodge No. 2492 sponsored Geobio.
Geobio will receive $10,000 per school year for his college education for a total of $40,000.
The Elks National Foundation awards $2.296 million annually in college scholarships to 500 high school seniors nationwide. These students are at or near the top of their class, active in school and community activities, recognized as leaders by their peers and need financial assistance to attend college.
The selection of winners began at the local lodge level and continued through district, state association and national judging.
The first- and second-place awards are the largest scholarships provided by any major fraternal or service organization.
