College workshop at library
      Huntington Learning Centers and College Planning Experts will host a free college planning workshop from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sat., May 30 at the Simi Valley Library, 2969 Tapo Canyon Road. The workshop will cover SAT/ACT strategies and tips, and financial planning strategies.

      Scott Liske isn't going to change his favorite ankle-high black socks anytime soon. The senior for Royal High's baseball team wore those socks while catching during the team's final two regular-season games— the first time he's caught since he was a freshman—and he just so happened to call two victories.

Top track talent in action Saturday
      The CIF-Southern Section Track and Field Divisional Championships take place Saturday at Cerritos College. Top local boys to watch for are Royal's Robert Davis (800-meter dash), Travis Edwards (1,600) and Thomas Garner (300 hurdles), as well as Simi Valley's Garrett Crow (300 hurdles) and Steven Semler (1,600).
