Clean out the closet, help the needy
The Simi Valley Community Foundation plans to open a small store called Treasure Hunters Boutique this summer to raise funds for its Alliance for Human Services program.
Beginning tomorrow, May 16, the foundation will begin collecting gently used clothing, new shoes, accessories, small furnishings and housewares for resale at the boutique.
Donated items may be dropped off from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 67 W. Easy St., Unit 131, Simi Valley.
The following slighty used clothing items are needed: women's dresses, business suits and sportswear; men's business suits, sportswear and shirts; and fashion accessories such as belts, gloves, scarves, neckties, hats, purses and jewelry. New shoes are also needed.
Clothing must be washed or dry cleaned, and on a hanger, if possible. preferably hung up.
Household items needed include small furnishings in good condition; accessories such as vases, table linens, artwork, and accents; and housewares such as silver, flatware, crystal and china.
Items that will not be accepted include torn or soiled clothing, damaged or broken items, large pieces of furniture, appliances, mattresses, underwear and children's clothing.
