The Women of Congregation B'nai Emet will host Jewish World Watch for an update on the solar cooker project at 7:30 p.m. Tues., May 12 at the synagogue, 9 W. Bonita Drive, Simi Valley.

The project aids in the protection and empowerment of women and girls who have fled the genocide in Darfur.

Solar cookers enable women, who are vulnerable to attack while collecting firewood, to stay within the safety of the camps by reducing their dependency on wood.

Solar cooker pins will be available for a small donation to support the project.
