Young at Art Studios will present a "California Dreamin'" art show and contest this weekend in Simi Valley and Camarillo.

The art show will be from 1 to 3 p.m. Sat., May 2 in the Simi Valley Young at Art studio, 5762 E. Los Angeles Ave., and from 1 to 3 p.m. Sun., May 3 at the Camarillo Young at Art studio, 601 Mobil Ave.

Activities during the show will include cookie decorating, face painting and craft making.

More than 150 artists are preparing for the annual spring show with Californiathemed art pieces.

Students range in age from 5 years old to adult.

The artists have used a variety of mediums including color pastels, water color, acrylic and oil.

On the day of the show attendees will have the opportunity to vote for their favorite artists in each age group and category.

The art entry that receives the most votes in the "Best of Show" category will be placed on the cover of the Young at Art 2009 Summer Brochure.

All first-place winners from both studios will proceed to a final contest that will be judged by professional artists for a grand prize in each category.
