To my surprise, my biggest concern about the new Simi Dog Park was fixed in a matter of days.

The new double gate entrances preventing escape were installed less than two weeks after the grand opening.

I wish I could say I had the influence to make it happen so quickly, but I know the quick action was taken as a result of a multitude of responses from concerned residents. Kudos to the park district for moving so quickly.

Ed Hayduk, assistant general manager for Rancho Simi Recreation and Park District, mentioned that they are considering temporarily placing a "dog ambassador" on site to acquaint residents with the rules.

I'm so glad that the major safety issues were resolved so quickly. I brought Jack to the dog park on the Friday it reopened and a couple times the following week.
