Active Adult Programs
The Rancho Simi Recreation and Park District presents the following programs for seniors.
Unless otherwise noted, activities take place at the Simi Valley Senior Center, 3900 Avenida Simi.

•Guitar/ukulele workshop will take place from 7 to 8 p.m. Thurs., April 30 to June 11.
The class is for beginning or intermediate students. The fee is $43.
•Ceramic hand-building and introduction to the potter's wheel will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Mon., April 27 through June 15.
Kim Clarke will teach handbuilt ceramic techniques of pinching, coiling and slab work. All levels welcome.
Registration fee is $40, and the lab fee is $15.
•A day trip to Catalina Island will be on Wed., May 13.
Attendees will board the motor coach at 7:30 a.m. at the senior center and arrive in Avalon at 11:10 a.m. via the Catalina Express.
Guests may purchase individual tours upon arrival on the island and will have lunch on their own.
The boat departs the island at 7 p.m., and the bus will arrive back in Simi Valley at 9:45 p.m.
The cost is $94.
•A lamp building workshop will be from 9 a.m. to noon Sat., May 16.
Attendees will use Tiffanystyle lamp shades and antique bronze bases to create a personal lamp. Lamp shades, bases, electrical wiring and nuts will be provided.
The class fee is $5, and a $25 material fee will be payable to the instructor.
•A Pacific coastal cruise will take place from Sept. 20 to 26 on the Norwegian Star.
Ports of call include San Francisco, Oregon, and Victoria and Vancouver in British Columbia, Canada.
The cost is $999 per person double occupancy (inside cabin); $1,199 per person double occupancy (outside cabin) or $1,399 per person double occupancy (balcony/outside cabin).
A $250 deposit is due by May 18.
