Cajun Fest's Gator Run includes health expo

The annual Cajun Fest will feature a Health & Fitness Expo in Simi Valley on Sat. and Sun., April 25 and 26 in conjunction with the Gator Run 5K and 10K runs on Sunday.

The expo will take place from 11 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Saturday at the Simi Valley Town Center Mall and from 6 to 10:30 a.m. Sunday at Rancho Santa Susana Community Park.

The expo is free to the public and will offer dozens of booths and interactive centers showcasing running, health, wellness and diet products, information and sampling for the runners and their guests.

The Sole Purpose Shoe Crew will be at the expo both days to collect used shoes to donate to a worthy cause.

On Sunday, the Gator Run will feature a 5K race beginning at 7:30 a.m., a 10K race at 7:40 a.m. and a Healthy Kids 1-Mile Fun Run at 9:30 a.m.

All participants registered in the 5K and 10K events will receive a race bib, timing chip, goodie bag, a "buy one get one free" ticket to the 20th annual Cajun Creole Music Festival and a Gator Run event Tshirt. Additionally, the first 500 to register will receive a Gator Run commemorative pin.

Road Runner Sports in Newbury Park and West Hills is offering free training programs for the runners/walkers. The programs include weekly clinics on selecting the correct footwear, nutrition, hydration, apparel and injury prevention.

The Gator Run is sponsored by Rotary Club of Simi Sunset.
