County making push to license canines

All penalties will be waived in the month of April

Ventura County will waive penalties during April for dog owners whose dog's license may have expired or who have not purchased a license for their dog.

The county encourages all dog owners to license their pets.

Annual dog licenses are $60 per animal for unaltered pets and $20 for spayed/neutered pets.

Proof of rabies vaccination is required to obtain a license. Spay/neuter certificates are required to qualify for the discounted fee.

Dog licenses may be purchased at many local veterinarians offices and also at the following locations: Simi Valley City Hall, 2929 Tapo Canyon Road; Simi Valley Animal Shelter, 670 W. Los Angeles Ave.; Theresa's Country Feed and Pet Store, 1836 Erringer Road; and Big Al's Pet Food Warehouse, 999 E. Los Angeles Ave.
