Train rides of all kinds in Fillmore

Historic railway has offerings for young and old

All trips depart from and return to the Fillmore station.

•Weekend scenic excursions, April 4, 5, 11 and 12. Departs at noon, returns about 3:30 to 4 p.m., rain or shine.

Have lunch in the diner or sit in the fresh-air observation car during ride through the fruit groves of the Heritage Valley. Includes a one-hour layover in downtown Santa Paula and a 30minute stop at Loose Caboose Garden Center and Gift Emporium.

Adults, $24; seniors, $22; youths ages 4 to 12, $14; children 3 and under, $10.

Cab rides are also available at $50.

Ride in cab one way and travel the other way in regular coach cars.

•Margarita Madness, Sat., April 4. Authentic Mexican dinner and margarita served in vintage dining cars during three-hour ride. Live band plays in open-air dance car. Adults over 21 only. Price is $51, including tax.

•Easter Luncheon Train, Sun., April 12. Easter Bunny on board for a spring lunch. Black Forest ham threecourse luncheon for adults. Minihamburgers, macaroni and cheese, fruit and dessert for children.

Adults, $47; youths ages 4 to 12, $26; and children ages 2 to 3, $23.

•Main Street Murders Mystery Dinner Train, Sat., April 11. P. Maxwell Productions troupe provides murder mystery show. In 1935 in Ventura, young, hotshot attorney Mason Perry is earning his reputation as a smart, aggressive defender of the less fortunate. He's defending Madame Fong, a local proprietress who runs the Lucky You casino and who's been targeted as the prime suspect in the murder of Henry McCrew.

Dinner includes choice of prime rib, chicken cordon bleu or salmon.

Adults only at $89 per person, includes show, dinner and ride. Reservations required.

•Day Out With Thomas, Hero of the Rails, April 17, 18, 19, 24, 25 and 26. A full-sized replica of Thomas chugs into Fillmore.

Take a train ride on Thomas, visit with Sir Topham Hatt and play with Thomas and Friends playsets at the Imagination Station.

The event includes a hay maze, bouncy houses, storytelling, Thomas videos and a tent of Thomas merchandise.
