Off-Broadway play comes to Simi Valley
A critically acclaimed OffBroadway play, "The Quarrel" will be presented at 8 p.m. Sun., April 12 at the Brandeis-Bardin Auditorium, 1101 Peppertree Lane, Simi Valley.
The performance takes place one week before Yom Hashoah/ Holocaust Memorial Day. Part of the proceeds will be donated to iVolunteer, a nonprofit organization and visitation program that pairs volunteers with Holocaust survivors, providing them with companionship and case assistance.
The play raises such questions as how can one love a person while disagreeing with their views and how can one believe in a supreme being when the world is full of injustice and hardship.
The story takes place years after the Holocaust. Chaim, played by Sam Guncler, and Hersh, played by Reuven Russell, were inseparable as schoolmates in prewar Europe before a fight drove them apart. Both lost their families during the war. One is now a free-living writer and the other a pious rabbi.
When they accidentally meet in a park, they reminisce and resume the argument that came between their friendship.
Reserved seating is $26 in advance and $30 at the door. General admission is $18 in advance and $22 at the door. For information regarding group rates, call Shoshana at (310) 278-5562.
