School board votes to eliminate 55 K-3 teaching positions for next school year

      In front of an audience of nearly 100 teachers, principals and parents, the Simi Valley school board voted Tuesday to approve more than $4.1 million in cuts for the 2009-10 school year.

      Ventura County will send three youngsters to a geography competition April 3 in Sacramento, where the winner will receive $100 and an all-expenses-paid trip to Washington, D.C., for the national contest in May.

Winners of 'Real Women' writing contest honored at Sinaloa Middle School
      The winning student authors of the "Real Women" Writing Competition and the women they wrote about, along with the authors' teachers and families, were honored at an awards presentation on March 30 in the Sinaloa Middle School Library.

RHS presenting 'High School Musical'
      Royal High School will present the Disney show "High School Musical" at 7 p.m. April 23, 24, 25 and 30 and May 1 and 9 in the MultiPurpose Room at the school, 1402 Royal Ave., Simi Valley. On Sat., May 9 two shows will be presented at 2 and 7 p.m.
