Study suggests people should start watching salt intake at 20
      New data from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention provides additional scientific evidence that the majority of Americans age 20 and over should limit the amount of sodium (salt) they consume daily to 1,500 milligrams to prevent and reduce high blood pressure.

Apply for CERT training
      The Simi Valley Office of Emergency Services is accepting applications for Community Emergency Response Training. CERT classes will be from 7 to 10 p.m. Thurs., April 30, May 7, 14, 21, 28 and June 4 at in the Emergency Operations Center in the police department building at 3901 Alamo St.

Walk for arthritis sufferers
      Simi Valley/Moorpark Lions and Simi Valley Leo Clubs will partner with Rheumatology Associates for the 2009 Arthritis Walk on Sun., May 3 at Magic Mountain, 26101 Magic Mountain Parkway, Valencia. The clubs will recruit friends and family members to raise funds to support research and programs in the prevention, control and cure of arthritis.

Hospital names its first female chief of staff
      Hannah G. Grossman, MD, obstetrics and gynecological specialist, was recently elected by the medical staff of Los Robles Hospital and Medical Center to serve as the chief of staff. She is the first woman in that role in the 41year history of the hospital.
