Day of events planned for Holocaust remembrance

Public asked to share WWIIera artifacts

Mount Sinai Memorial Parks and Mortuaries will host its fourth annual Yom HaShoah/Holocaust commemoration from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sun., April 19 at Kamenir Chapel, 6150 Mount Sinai Drive, Simi Valley. The public is invited.

Registration of artifacts and books will start at 9 a.m. Participants are encouraged to bring artifacts from the pre- to post-war periods.

The event will feature a performance of the rescued music of Russian-born Jewish cantor David Nowakowsky and the premiere of the video "Artifacts, Stories and Music."

Historians will provide information on the Holocaustera artifacts brought by attendees

The Writer's Shelf will offer a venue for books, self-published works, journals and other Holocaust-related writings.

Ceremonies will begin with a chapel service and culminate in a procession of rescued Torah scrolls to the Grove of the Righteous Rescuers. The Grove commemorates the citizens of the many countries who assisted in the rescue of Jews.

All attendees will receive a memorial yellow ribbon to symbolize the loss suffered by the Jewish community in the Holocaust.
