Patricia Lou Davis

Patricia Lou Davis ("Pat") passed away peacefully on Monday, March 16, 2009 in Woodland Hills, CA, surrounded by her family.

She was 79 years young, and will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her. She is survived by her son, Randy McKenzie (Karen), and her daughters, Sue Waggoner (Mark) and Carol Kempner (Maurice). Pat was blessed with six beautiful grandchildren: Kelly, Jeff, Nicole, Matthew, Mackenzie, and Kristina, as well as two greatgrandchildren, Tabitha and Audrey. Pat was preceded in death by her son, Bill McKenzie and her daughter, Pamela Smith.

Pat was born in Wichita, KS on July 4, 1929. She was raised by her grandparents in Chanute, Kansas. She traveled to various states as an Army wife, and then settled in Corpus Christi, Texas for several years. Pat and her family relocated to the San Fernando Valley in 1966. She worked as a Licensed Vocational Nurse until her retirement from the Sepulveda Veterans Administration in 1994. Pat moved to Simi Valley in 1996 and resided at the Ashley Manor apartments. In 2007, she moved to Vintage Senior Living, where she lived until her passing.

Pat lived a full life and enjoyed family gatherings, spending time with her grandchildren, and caring for others. Pat loved cats, and enjoyed reading books and watching true-crime television shows. She kept the family up-to-date on all the current world news. Having grown up during the Great Depression, Pat believed in living with the basic necessities and her philosophy was, "Pay cash for everything." Her family will always remember her famous fried chicken and potato salad and all of the holidays, birthdays, and special occasions that we shared with her.

Graveside services were held on Monday, March 23, 2009 at Eternal Valley Memorial Park in Newhall, CA. The family wishes to thank all of the special friends, caregivers, and medical staff who encouraged, prayed, and assisted us through these last few months.
