Marmonte League spring preview: Boys' tennis
Everyone's chasing T.O.
      There isn't much doubt that the Thousand Oaks High boys' tennis team is the favorite to win the Marmonte League title. How TOHS goes about accomplishing that feat, however, remains a bit of a mystery. The Lancers' lineup is strong, but, like last season, head coach Dave Assorson won't be able to utilize his top talent all the time.

Simi's Lewis named county MVP
      Simi Valley High senior guard Brad Lewis is the Ventura County Basketball Coaches Association's Player of the Year for boys' hoops. Lewis averaged 24.7 points per game for the Pioneers. Danny Cox, an SVHS junior guard, was selected second-team all-county.

Marmonte League spring preview: Boys' volleyball
Netters know title chase is wide open
      Fans of boys' volleyball in the Marmonte League should take a magic marker, find a calendar and circle May 6. On that night all eight Marmonte teams will play their final league matches, and it's a good bet a championship could be on the line.

FOR THE RECORD
      In reference to last week's Marmonte League baseball preview, the Acorn was provided with inaccurate information regarding Thousand Oaks High shortstop Tyler Smith and third baseman Danny Leon. Smith has signed a National Letter of Intent with Oregon State. Leon hasn't committed to any college.
