Apollo added to list of state's best continuation schools
Students, faculty thrilled after being honored
      Simi Valley's Apollo High School was named one of 14 model continuation high schools by State Superintendent of Public Instruction Jack O'Connell last Wednesday. "To put it simply, we feel proud to rank with the state's best," said Apollo Principal Dean May.

Student on dean's list at BU
      Katelyn Zulauf of Simi Valley was named to the dean's list at Boston University for the fall semester. Boston University is the fourth largest independent university in the United States, with an enrollment of more than 29,000 students in its 17 schools and colleges.

Application update
      It's official. The University of California received a record number of applications for fall 2009. Almost 127,000 students applied for admission, an increase of nearly 5 percent over last year. Freshman applications are up 3 percent, and transfer applications are up 11 percent.

Private academy hosting open house, picnic
      Chatsworth Hills Academy will host a family picnic and open house from noon to 3 p.m. Sat., March 7 at 21523 Rinaldi St., Chatsworth. Lunch will begin promptly at noon. Rain date is Sat., March 14.
