A phone call overheard in a restaurant led police officers to arrest a suspect for auto theft.

Simi Valley police officers were finishing a meal break at Denny's restaurant at 2460 Sycamore Drive when they overheard a man talking on the pay phone, according to police reports. The man was asking someone to come pick him up immediately because he thought the officers were watching him.

The officers followed the man outside to investigate further.

They lost sight of him, but saw a suspicious vehicle enter the parking lot. The driver appeared to be looking to pick someone up.

The officers ran the license plate and found that the car had been reported stolen out of Los Angeles County.

The driver, Marcus Wilson, 26, of Simi Valley, was arrested without incident and booked at the Ventura County Jail for auto theft.
