The Ventura County Special Education Local Plan will present a seminar titled "Carpe Diem: A conference for people who work with and care about children with emotional challenges" from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thurs., March 12 at Ventura County Office of Education Conference Center, 5100 Adolfo Road, Camarillo.

The seminar is for families and professionals. The theme is "Practical tools for life."

Shawn Reagle, licensed social worker, will give the keynote presentation, "Secrets of the Stressed-out Brain."

The cost is $55 for professionals and $20 for parents. Registration is required.
