Teen booked for starting blaze with smoke bomb

A 16yearold male juvenile was arrested for arson on Jan. 30.
Several Simi Valley police officers and Ventura County Fire Department personnel responded to a fire in the southern portion of Rancho Tapo Park in Simi Valley.
Close to 120 square feet of grass and dry brush were burned by a smoke bomb thrown on the ground, causing about $1,000 in damage, according to police reports.
A witness saw the suspect running away from the area. Police detained him at Tapo Canyon Road and Alamo Street. The suspect, a Simi Valley resident, was cited and released to his father.
