Robin Millar Robin Millar Robin Millar, administrative director of rehabilitation therapies at Simi Valley Hospital, will receive the Healthcare Professional of the Year award from the Ventura County Medical Resource Foundation.

Millar, who became director of the hospital's Child Development Center in 1979, will be a guest of honor at the 16th annual David C. Fainer, MD, awards dinner on Feb. 12 in Camarillo.

The dinner is a tribute to outstanding healthcare leaders throughout Ventura County who exemplify Fainer's dedication and ethics. Fainer was the director of the Family Practice Residency Program at Ventura County Medical Center and the hospital's medical director and director of internal medicine.

Every summer, the foundation solicits nominations for the awards. Millar's nominators listed a number of career and volunteer roles in which she has lived out her lifelong commitment to children, calling her "one of those exceptional individuals who knew from early on that her calling was to care for children with developmental disabilities and their families."

"It has been written and often spoken that Robin is a dedicated and hard-working woman who does not consider 'no' as part of her vocabulary," the nominators stated. "She has always gone above and beyond the call of duty and does not see any challenge as being too great. She is a multi-tasker and a 'rah rah' cheerleader who does not give up on anyone. She is extremely generous with her time, as well as her financial resources, often giving to several causes that our community supports, such as the American Cancer Society, the American Heart Association and the March of Dimes (Walk America)."

The foundation has existed for 52 years to enhance the availability and excellence of healthcare services for the families of Ventura County.
