Bike path plans are ill-timed
      Why worry, after all, "It's mostly state money." This is in regards to the City Council approving a plan to lay out $23 million for bike path improvements. All I can do is just shake my head in disbelief.

City leaders should halt needless spending
      Seems it's that time of year again. The time when the "dooms dayers" start with the "we're in a drought" rhetoric. "The snow pack is only 60 percent of what we need, so everyone has to conserve water now or face dire consequences this summer.

      I am in shock. I read in this morning's Acorn that the Simi Valley City Council has passed a plan to spend $23 million for bike paths. This is next to another article on business losses in our community. Something is very, very wrong here. We are in serious financial crises in our nation, our state and our community.

      I was going to respond to the editorial on bicycles, but then I read Walt's letter: "GOP should back Obama on stimulus plan." I am not a fan of the way the Republicans handled themselves when they had the reins or the way McCain has been a stumbling block to them when they try to do it right.

      I applaud the Simi Valley Community Foundation and the Chamber of Commerce for honoring the Rev. Dr. Frank Witman with the Strathearn Lifetime Achievement award. Dr. Witman has given tirelessly of his talents, time, energy and human spirit to the betterment of Simi Valley for almost 40 years.

Public should band together to solve barking dog issue
      To those who live in Simi Valley and have had trouble with barking dogs: You must face the facts that all animal control rules were made by the animal control director who has been there for more than 30 years and is not inclined to deal with the public.
