Group agrees on design, location for Metrolink crash memorial
      Eighteen local residents came to a consensus Tuesday on the preferred location and design of a memorial to honor the victims of the Sept. 12 Metrolink train crash.

Controlled burn done near Reagan Library
     UNDER CONTROL—Ventura County Fire Protection District firefighters work to stamp out the last few flare-ups following a controlled burn Wednesday morning at the Reagan Library. The district worked with the Ventura County Air Pollution Control District to burn off some heavy brush near the facility and reduce the threat to the library in preparation for the upcoming fire season.

Nineteen affordable condos on sale now to seniors
      The city of Simi Valley has approved the sale of up to 19 additional affordable units for seniors age 55 or up in the recently developed Paseo De Las Flores condominium project on the west side of Stearns Street south of Los Angeles Avenue. Each unit has three bedrooms, two or two and a half baths, and an attached two-car garage.

A little boost from dad
     WEEKEND WORKOUT— Jack Von Molt, 9, gets some help from his dad, Jeff, while doing a pull-up Sunday afternoon at Rancho Tapo Community Park. They were at the park with Cub Scout Pack 3663 Den 8. The Scouts were working toward their athletic achievement pins. Jeff is the den leader and said the boys were stretching, doing sit-ups and push-ups, running, learning how to take a pulse and learning the ill affects of drugs and alcohol on the body.       Air Force Airman 1st Class Ryan W. Tanner has graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas. He is the son of Carole Trainer of Simi Valley and a 2001 graduate of Thousand Oaks High School.
