Psychotherapist Dr. Barton Goldsmith will be the guest speaker at Congregation B'nai Emet's Shabbat service at 8 p.m. today, Jan. 23 at the temple, 9 W. Bonita, Simi Valley.

Rabbi Michele Paskow will conduct the service and Goldsmith will discuss "compassion."

In addition to his private practice, Goldsmith's weekly column, "Emotional Fitness," is syndicated and runs in the Ventura County Star.

He also hosts a radio show on KCLU/NPR, and is an author and speaker. His book, "Emotional Fitness for Work," will be released later this year.
