Writers' meeting will feature local poet laureate

Perie Longo, poet laureate of Santa Barbara, will be the featured speaker at the Ventura County Writers Club's meeting at 7 p.m. Tues., Oct. 14 at Borders bookstore, 125 W. Thousand Oaks Blvd., Thousand Oaks.

The event is free and open to the public.

Her presentation is titled "Poetry: From Inspiration to Publication." Topics include idea gathering, how to craft a poem, how to get published and what editors look for in poetry submissions.
