Serving up breakfast for seniors The nonprofit Resident Council hosts a homecooked breakfast for seniors the first Saturday of each month from 8 to 11:30 a.m. at 9620 Telephone Road in Ventura. The next breakfast is Oct. 4. The cost is $3.50, $2.50 for seconds. The menu is eggs, pancakes, juice, sweet rolls, sausage, bacon and coffee. Baked goods will be sold. Seniors may bring children and friends. The council will also be opening a Second Treasures Resale Shoppe on Nov. 14 at the same location. Hours will be 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. weekdays and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturdays. The shop will sell upscale clothes, jewelry, crystal, shoes, hats, sweaters and coats. People can bring items to sell. The split is 50 percent of sale price to the consignor and 50 percent to the Resident Council Improvement Fund. The money is used for trips for seniors and to fund other projects that would help other seniors and children in jeopardy. The council comprises 145 seniors and disabled people living in public housing in Ventura County. Council events help raise funds to provide a recreational budget for seniors and handicapped.
