McPherson Foundation carnival, family walk back for a fifth year

The fifth annual Amanda McPherson Foundation "Life is in Charge" Family Walk and Carnival will take place Sun., Oct. 19 at Rancho Madera Community Park in Wood Ranch, 556 Lake Park Drive, Simi Valley.

Registration opens at 9:30 a.m. The walk is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m.

The carnival, food and games will immediately follow the walk.

Donations will be accepted in lieu of a registration fee.

The walk is held in memory of young Amanda McPherson and sponsored by the Amanda McPherson Foundation, which has raised funds to create Amanda's Corners in local elementary schools, helped finance the Simi Valley Girls Softball Complex, donated money for medical research and provided funding for national research into sudden cardiac death and velo-cardio-facial syndrome, a genetic birth defect.
