Teacher will talk prayer, politics

Ron Ballard, a practitioner and teacher of Christian Science healing, will present a talk titled, "Prayer and politics: spiritual solutions for creative government," from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. Fri., Oct. 17 at the Simi Valley Senior Center, 3900 Avenida Simi, Simi Valley.

During his talk, Ballard will refer to the Bible and "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, a book of "universally applicable ideas on practical spirituality," according to event organizers.

He will explore how prayer enables human thought to reach for higher solutions based on divine intelligence, challenging listeners to yield to a more spiritual perspective and subjugate partisanship to Principle, God.

Ballard graduated with a degree in political science from Claremont McKenna College. He left his position as a campaign consultant and entered the fulltime healing ministry of Christian Science, a field in which he has worked for almost 40 years.
