Speaker will discuss volunteerism

Karen L. Gabler will speak at the Simi Valley Community Council meeting, 11:45 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. Thurs., Oct. 9 at the International House of Pancakes, 2525 Erringer Road, Simi Valley. The meeting will include a brief business meeting and no-host lunch.

Gabler is an attorney with Nordman Cormany Hair & Compton and chair of the Simi Valley Chamber of Commerce board.

At the meeting, she will speak on volunteerism, including locating volunteer opportunities, business and personal reasons for volunteering, and legal issues related to volunteering. Each member agency or organization will have the opportunity to mention upcoming events they are planning.

Donations of toiletries, bus passes and bleach will be accepted for the Samaritan Center.
