City Council to discuss a memorial for victims of Metrolink crash

Citing an interest within the community to recognize the victims of the Sept. 12 Metrolink collision, Mayor Paul Miller has requested that the concept of establishing a memorial at the Simi Valley train station be discussed at the next City Council meeting at 6:30 p.m. Mon., Oct. 13 at City Hall, 2929 Tapo Canyon Road.

The City Council will have an opportunity to discuss the concept and the participation of interested organizations in the project.

As always, members of the public can express their thoughts during the public comments portion at the beginning of the meeting.

The mayor said few in Simi were left unaffected by the crash.

"This tragic incident has had a significant impact on our community, with so many residents having a connection to someone injured or whose life was lost on that day," Miller said in a press release. "A permanent, lasting memorial may be an appropriate way to pay our collective respects to those affected by this collision."
