      By hosting the Shetland and Pinto World Series last weekend, Simi Valley Youth Baseball got to showcase its stateoftheart athletic complex. A title-winning performance by one of the league's home teams was just icing on the cake.

City golf championship next weekend
      Simi Hills Golf Course will host the City Golf Championship Saturday, Aug. 1, and Sunday, Aug. 2. The 36-hole tournament will feature play in four flights, including the championship flight, which was won last year by Ramie Sprinkling with a score of 133.

      With 34 victories to its credit and a winning percentage of .829, the Simi Valley Girls Softball U-10 Gold All-Star team will battle for the Western National Championship in Las Vegas from July 29 through August 3.
