Family fun aplenty at this year's St. Rose of Lima carnival

      For decades the annual St. Rose of Lima Family carnival has drawn fun-seeking kids and their families to the grounds of the Simi Valley Catholic church. Last weekend was no exception. "Around 12,000 people showed up," carnival chairman Ed Roberts said. "We had a big crowd here on Friday.

Resident wins $75,000 in lottery's Big Spin game
      Newlywed Tisha Waber of Simi Valley recently won $75,000 in the Big Spin game of the California Lottery. She plans to use her prize to pay off the expenses of her recent wedding and possibly purchase a new car. Ronald Amantia of Simi Valley won $2,000.
