B&G Club 'Treasure Island' auction raises $175,000

'AARRGH!'- Wayne Schultz, vice president of the Boys & Girls Club of Simi Valley board, shows off his best pirate face during last month's 30th annual auction, "An Adventure to Treasure Island."
The Boys & Girls Club of Simi Valley has announced that the milestone event, the 30th annual auction, "An Adventure to Treasure Island," raised more than $175,000 to support club programs that benefit the children and families of Simi Valley.

Swashbuckling pirates and fair maidens greeted the guests as they entered the clubhouse. Many guests came in piratethemed costumes. The club was decorated by dozens of volunteers who donated their time and talent.

More than 300 guests bid on hundreds of items, including trips, diamond jewelry and even a Maltese puppy. Reagan Library caterer Kirk Memoli of Command Performance Catering provided a gourmet meal before the live auction began.

Event sponsors Robert Levonian of LCB & Associates donated $10,000 toward the club's scholarship fund, which provides low-income families with after-school and summer camp care for their children at no charge.

Deb Holler and Bob Huber served as auction chairs.
