Grace Brethren sports teams now in Frontier League

The TriCounties Athletic Association went through its biennial re-leaguing process this week, with several athletic programs being shuffled between the Tri-Valley and Frontier leagues.

The TCAA uses two years' worth of league results in each sport to determine which schools are slotted into Tri-Valley or Frontier, with the TVL being considered the most competitive.

Grace Brethren will now have all of its sports teams competing in the Frontier League for at least the next two years.

GBHS programs switching leagues include football, girls' volleyball and softball. The change should benefit the softball team, which went 3-9 in league play last year but 16-11 overall.

"The change is going to be good because we're going to be in an area where we can be more competitive," Grace Brethren softball coach Andy Silva said.

"We got put in the Tri-Valley League because of what we did three years ago when we had an unbelievable team. Unfortunately, we lost five of our best players the next season and we were basically a Division VI-caliber program playing in a Division III league."
